Being Under the Influence of a Full Flower Moon

This time tomorrow, we’ll be under the influence of a full flower moon.

You may be sensing an “inner blooming” – like petals of a flower unfolding, with the various effects transcending into every part of your life – personally, professionally, and creatively.

Maybe you’re experiencing gentle nudges out of your comfort zone? Perhaps you’re being guided toward creating big shifts in your life?

It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes by well-known journal writer and novelist, Anais Nin.

What intentions are being unearthed in you – bringing you to the Flower Moon’s bloom?

What visions are stirring in your mind? What is ready to be seen in full moon light?

Happy New Moon Valentine’s Day!

Happy New Moon Valentine’s Day!

The timing couldn’t be more perfect, spending it than on the back end of a new moon phase.

new moon always brings a time of new beginnings. It’s a period when the sky is completely black, with the exception of little sparkles of light in the form of stars.

It’s the point in every month when the moon takes a retreat and begins to grow again, redoubling her light and reflecting new creative energy on all worldly things. It marks an ideal time for connecting with our inner selves and our heart’s desire. By looking for the “light” and knowing that it’s there, somewhere, waiting to be discovered – we can reach a place where our personal reflection begins to shed its own light.

What wants to emerge from within you? What wants to be created outside of you?

It sounds like a perfect message for Valentine’s Day, don’t you think?

The Ripple Effect of Gratitude

As we prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday here in the United States – and move toward another full moon phase, I can’t help but think of the impact that gratitude has when we embrace it wholeheartedly.

Can you imagine a world where everyone showed gratitude?

If someone did something kind for you, you’d probably give them a warm smile and say thank you. And if you were having a bad day, someone else might take time out of his or her life to comfort you, making you feel better.

It’s these acts of kindness that prompt people to show their gratitude by doing something similar for someone else.

Like a skipping stone in a pond, acts of gratitude have the potential to create a ripple effect.

How Does Autumn Inspire Rich Colors of Change for You?

A new season has begun – and with it comes an extraordinary amount of change.

I love the rich, vibrant colors of autumn. It’s my favorite season of the year – and oh, so inspiring!
  • How does this season inspire the “rich color” within you?
  • How does it spark your creative process?
Imagine taking an autumn walk and being surrounded by the richness of change. You see the leaves changing colors, perhaps dropping to the ground. You notice that squirrels are running around, looking for nuts to store for the winter. You notice the flower beds are getting a little more bare. You can sense that everything is changing – in preparation for a new cycle.

In nature, there is nothing that is not continually renewing itself – and that constant renewal is out of the ground of what no longer is. Nature knows that in order to renew itself, it must completely shed the old.

Are You on a “Caterpillar to Butterfly” Journey?

On my daily walk this morning, along one of my favorite Cape Cod nature trails, I noticed my first butterfly of the season crossing my path. It stayed with me for a few minutes, eventually landing on a yellow flower in a nearby meadow.

I began thinking about this butterfly – and the transformation it had taken to become one. It reminded me of a favorite quote by beloved poet Maya Angelou“We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.”

Every great transformation – whether personal, professional or creative – involves a process that isn’t always pleasant. There are many twists and turns, lots of creating and adjusting, and a necessary willingness to “see it all through.”

It’s a unique journey that can be described metaphorically, “from caterpillar to butterfly.”

Turning Brokenness into Beauty

Many of us are familiar with the saying, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”

And in several cultures, beauty is celebrated in unique ways, depending on how it’s viewed.

In Japan, for example, broken objects are often repaired with gold. The flaw is seen as a unique piece of the object’s history – which adds to its beauty.

Thinking about yourself and your own life, what do you consider “broken?”

And how might another see this “flaw” as beauty?
